Take Two Storytelling TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW: December 13th

  • C'mon Everybody 325 Franklin Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11238 United States (map)

Come celebrate TWO WHOLE YEARS of Take Two! One true story, two endings: one the way it actually happened, and the other where they rewind time to make it all turn out differently. What happens when you take the other fork in the road, right the wrongs or wrong the rights, say what you could have said, do what you could have done, flip to a different page in the choose your own adventure? When the only thing between a storyteller and the perfect ending is the real ending, they bring it to Take Two.
Co-hosted by Elana Lancaster and Harvey Katz

This month's spectacular storytellers: Adam Wade, Kevin Allison, Cecilia Gentili, Elsa Waithe, and Susan Kent!

Adam Wade is a 20 time Moth Slam winner, profiled in The New Yorker Magazine, and has been featured on HBO's GIRLS and Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer. His best selling comedic storytelling album 'The Human Comedy' is available on iTunes.

Kevin Allison is the host and creator of the wildly popular podcast, RISK!, where people tell true stories they never thought they’d dare to share in public. After starting from scratch in Kevin’s bedroom in 2009, RISK! has grown to have over two and a half million downloads per month and has featured stories too uncensored to be played on public radio from Margaret Cho, Kevin Nealon, Andy Dick, Sarah Silverman and regular folks from around the world. Kevin is also a member of the legendary sketch comedy group The State, whose 90’s MTV show remains a cult classic. In 2011, he created storytelling school The Story Studio, where he teaches performers and professionals from all fields how to wow a crowd with their own true stories.

Cecilia Gentili currently serves as the Director of Policy at GMHC, the world’s first and leading provider of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy. Originally from Argentina, Cecilia found her passion for advocacy and community service when she started working as an intern at the LGBT Community Center in New York City several years ago. From 2012 to 2016, she managed the Transgender Health Program at the Apicha Community Health Center. Cecilia is also a contributor to Trans Bodies, Trans Selves: A Resource for the Transgender Community, and a board member for Transcend Legal and Translatina Network. For fun, she loves performing at storytelling and stand-up comedy events where she talks about her life experiences. Cecilia is very passionate about advocating for her community, especially Latina transgender women who may have a history of sex work, drug use and incarceration.

Elsa Waithe is a comedian, activist, and instructor from Norfolk, VA. Now residing in Brooklyn, NY, Elsa’s comedy is a mix of lighthearted but critical jabs at attitudes and issues around homosexuality and race, but her 2 favorite topics are weed and herself. She’s been featured on NPR’s This American Life, hosted the monthly comedy show “Affirmative Laughter” at The Experiment Comedy Gallery, and now teaches stand-up comedy to teen girls with Gold Comedy #ComedyForGirls.

Susan Kent is a Deep South refugee who lives, writes, and performs in NYC. She's been featured on Snap Judgment, RISK!, The Moth Radio Hour, and tons of other podcasts and live shows. Tweet her @TheSusanKent.
